Gardens of the World The Gardens of the World in Berlin is a great way for you to spend a quiet afternoon. This urban oasis is a real rarity. When Berlin and Beijing signed the contract to become sister cities in 1994, the idea of theChinese Gardens of Berlin was conceived. This is how "The Garden of the Reclaimed Moon" came into being. Chinese experts worked on the garden, which was completed in October 2001. "The Garden of the Reclaimed Moon" is a landscape of gently-rolling hills, with a miniature Chinese Wall, bridges and rocks; its centrepiece is a new, 4,500 square metre lake. An original Chinese Teahouse offers a variety of refreshing green teas. When a Chinese garden is named then the name of the owner or the owner’s destiny is to be included in the name in an encoded manner. Likewise "The Garden of the Reclaimed Moon" symbolizes the reunification of this once divided city. In April 2003, the Japanese Garden was opened. Traditional aspects of Japanese horticultural art are combined to create a harmonic orchard. The garden was planned by the zen-priest and landscape gardener Shunmyo Masuno. In December 2003 the exotic Balinese garden opened in the greenhouse and in July 2005 the Oriental Garden was opened. Created by Kamel Louafi and the garden historian Mohammed El Fai’z, the garden is inspired by traditional oriental garden architecture. Water fountains and exotic flowers in the geometrical garden will enchant the visitors. The most recent opening is the Korean Seoul Garden.
